A 6 track percussion album (44m 23s) — released May 7th 2021 on nonclassical

TWINEis the new album celebrating established composerRolf Wallin's long standing collaboration withSISU Percussion Ensemble.

Wallinis a prominent figure among Scandinavia's contemporary composers, performed and commissioned internationally. His musical background takes in jazz, avant-garde rock, early music and a thorough traditional classical training. This versatility is reflected in a many-faceted collection of works, covering a diverse range of techniques and expressions: from absolute music for the concert hall to opera and installations; from elaborate computer-aided composition in his instrumental music to strongly intuitive music for the stage. His close collaboration with leading percussion groups and soloists has led to some especially remarkable results. Pieces like Stonewave and Twine have entered the standard percussion repertoire and are regularly played worldwide.

Being open to the musics and influences of the world around your own music is one thing. Funnelling those influences in order to ceaselessly interrogate the role and sound of new music in today’s world is another level of ambition and achievement, and it’s a clue to the dazzling musical sound-worlds of Norwegian composer Rolf Wallin. - Tom Service BBC Radio 3
