Outside The Lines, Vol. 2

A 6 track twenty-first century album (28m 5s) — released June 8th 2018 on nonclassical

The latest in nonclassical's annual Outside the Lines series of EPs, showcasing some of the most exciting artists and composers to emerge from the new music scene.

Curated by radio DJ, tastemaker and all-round musical adventurer Nick Luscombe, the EP celebrates the diverse breadth of new classical music being created in scenes in London and beyond. Midori Komachi presents two new works for violin and tape, while Zoë Martlew's 'Shift, Trip' for cello and tape is performed by Cecilia Bignall. There's also Charlotte Harding's percussive 'EP', performed by Beth Higham-Edwards and Gabriella Swallow, and Ayanna Witter-Johnson's R&B-tinged 'Rise Up'. Completing the release is Freya Waley-Cohen's harp piece 'Blu-Tack', performed by Sophie Baird-Daniel. It's an EP full of artists that are bending the rules and finding their voice – artists that aren't afraid to colour outside the lines.
